Dr Kavitha Fenn Arunkumar graduated from the Madurai Medical College, Madurai in 1995. She completed her post gradution studies in the Christian Medical college, Vellore from 1997 – 2000. She was the recipient of the Florence Nichols prize for the best outgoing student in Psychiatry for the year 1999 at CMC, Vellore.
Dr. Kavitha Fenn Arunkumar came to Madurai in 2000, joined the Apollo hospitals, Madurai as Consultant Psychiatrist. In the year 2001, she established the D.D. Fenn Psychiatry hospital along with her mother Dr Sheela Fenn, a retired professor & HOD of the Institute of Psychiatry, Madurai Medical College and Govt Rajaji hospital, Madurai. She worked with the Psychiatry institute for 7 years.
In 2008, she was the Executive Director and Founding member of the newly formed Hannah Joseph hospital which is an Institute of Neurosciences and Trauma. She is a much sought after personality, an invited guest speaker to schools and colleges in and around Madurai. She is an active member of YWCA for more than 2 decades. In 2012 she has volunteered as a Consultant Psychiatrist with the NGO Shanti Manas founded by Dr Candadai Srinivasan (UK based Senior Psychiatrist). This NGO adopted 18 villages around Madurai and disseminates mental health informations, identifies prospective patients, conducts out-patient services, house visits and disperses medicines.
Her passion has always been Dance and she is the founder of Youforia Danscool started in 2012. She is a part of the largest All Women Rotary organisation in South East Asia called Rotary Blossoms and is a Charter Member and serves on its Board.
